Harold K. Sykes, age 73 of Buchanan, TN, died Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at his residence in Buchanan, TN.
He retired in 2015 as the longtime co-owner and operator of The Cabinet Corner in Paris. He formerly worked at Emerson Electric in Paris as the personnel manager. Harold was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Paris Elks Lodge 816, where he was past exalted ruler. He was the former president of the Jaycees, former Fish Fry chairman, and was the founder of the Shed House. He spent his earlier years of life growing up at Fairview Baptist Church in Paris. Harold loved hunting, fishing, beagles, and his honeybees.
Harold was born November 23, 1945, in Paris, TN, to the late Fred Sykes and the late Jane Snow Sykes.
He was married April 12, 1984, to Celisa Jackson Sykes, who survives, of Buchanan, TN.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by one sister, Fredda (Jerry) Bevil of Camden, TN; three brothers, Leslie (Linda) Sykes of Buchanan, TN, Rusty Sykes (Holly Buie) of Paris, TN, and Jack Sykes of Camden, TN; his mother-in-law, Burnietta Jackson of Paris, TN; four nieces, Laura (Brent) Owens, Heather (Michael) Canady, Amber (Brad) Barnes, and April Sykes; and two nephews, Tony (Donna) Bowers, and Eric Sykes.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Kim Sykes.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Wednesday, July 31, 2019, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, and continue Thursday, August 1, 2019, from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm. The funeral service will be Thursday, August 1, 2019, at 1:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Gary Collier officiating.
Pallbearers will be Wyatt Owens, Jeff Morris, Terry Stoope, Buddy Gardner, Victor Baldwin, Tommy Scarbrough, Lee Greer, and Bob Madison. Named as honorary pallbearers are all members of the Shed House Group.
Burial with military honors will be in Memorial Cemetery in Paris, TN.
