Jerry Powell, Sr., age 76 of Paris, TN, died Friday, March 22, 2019, at his residence in Paris, TN.
He worked on the assembly line for many years at Midland/Haldex. He also formerly worked at Lewis & Williams in Paris. Jerry was an accomplished musician who loved playing bass and saxophone to entertain. He played at Southside, Country Junction, and was a former member of the Barons in Paris. He enjoyed fishing.
Jerry was born July 30, 1942, in Trezevant, TN, to the late Robert Powell and the late Mary Francis Bland Powell.
He is survived by one son, Jerry (Lydia) Powell, Jr., of Springville, TN; former wife, Betty Jo Powell of Puryear, TN; one sister, Dean Wyatt of Millington, TN; two brothers, Sammy (Kay) Powell of Dyersburg, TN, and Johnny (Lynn) Powell of Nashville, TN; three grandchildren, Samantha (Matt) Mead of Springville, TN, Shandi (Andrew) Cooper of Paris, TN, and Kaitlyn (Terry Goins) Powell of Chattanooga, TN; seven great grandchildren, Tiffany Mead, Rachel Mead, Charlie Mead, Greyson Cooper, Oliver Cooper, Keighley Cooper, and Lucille Goins.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Brenda Powell Smith Hyder; and two brothers, Tommy Powell and James Robert Powell.
Arrangements will be handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, TN, 38242. The body is to be cremated with no services planned.
