Monika Maria Tyler, age 74 of Paris, TN, died Thursday, November 21, 2019, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, TN.
She retired after a 40-year career as a master teller in the banking industry, working for Mount Prospect Bank in Illinois and several others. Monika was born in East Germany and defected to West Germany at age 9. She met her husband, fell in love, married, and moved to the United States in 1967. She loved the USA and was proud to become a citizen at the bicentennial. Monika taught herself English, was a classic film lover, and a voracious reader. She loved her family very much and was an absolute animal lover, caring for many animals over her lifetime. She was Roman Catholic by faith.
Monika was born January 16, 1945, in Karlsbad, Germany, to the late Karl Brockl and the late Frederieke Fussl Brockl.
She was married May 20, 1967, to her husband of almost 53 years, Paul Tyler, who survives, of Paris, TN.
Along with her husband, she is also survived by her daughter, Shannon Tyler-Zabel and husband, Jeremy Zabel; one sister-in-law, Linda (Russel) Kunke of Sarasota, FL; one niece, Sherri (Bob) White of Downers Grove, IL; one great niece, Kayly White; and one great nephew, Charlie White.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN 38242. The body is to be cremated with no services planned.
