Al Misker

Alvin Francis “Al” Misker, Jr., age 81 of Buchanan, TN, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at his residence.

Al was born in West Frankfort, IL, on October 6, 1944, to the late Alvin Francis Misker, Sr., and the late Marjorie Koons Misker.

He married Christine Brandhorst Misker on September 30, 1981. Christine survives of Buchanan, TN.

Al was a 1962 graduate of Interlaken High School in New York. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in forestry from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and a mechanical engineering certificate from a vocational school in Illinois.

He worked as a Master Mechanic for Amex Coal Mining Company before moving to Henry County, Tennessee, in 1984. He later worked for KT Clay and served as Operations Manager at the Henry County Recycling Center until his retirement.

Al enjoyed restoring and repairing vehicles, especially his 1961 Willys Wagon. He was known for being a perfectionist and for his dry sense of humor.

In addition to his wife, Al is also survived by four children, Jim Butcher of Buchanan, TN, Laura Miller of Herrin, IL, Meredith (Rob D.) Misker of St. Louis, MO, and Tammy Misker of Herrin, IL; one brother, Britton (Debbie) Misker of Herrin, IL; three grandchildren, Kimberly Butcher, Luke Hileman, and Sully Pullum; and three great-grandchildren, Josilyne Smith, Ella Smith, and Ember Smith.

Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN 38242, is handling the arrangements. His remains are to be cremated with a memorial visitation to be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Mike Wimberley and Brian Wimberley officiating.
