Al Morton, age 81 of Puryear, TN, passed away peacefully Friday, August 12, 2022, at Anna Mae Owen Hospice House in Murray, KY, surrounded by family.
He retired from Midland-Ross in Paris, TN in 2004. He was a member of Puryear Baptist Church for many years and a member of the Buchanan, TN Masonic Lodge. Al was a longtime member of the EZ Rodders of West Tennessee. He loved his 1940 Ford Coupe and 1956 Ford Big Window Pick-Up. He was a state representative for the National Street Rod Association.
Al was born March 6, 1941, in Detroit, MI, to the late George Morton and the late Helen Heading Morton.
He was married June 25, 1959, to his wife of 63 years, Sue Cash Morton, who survives, of Puryear, TN.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by his daughter, Cheryl Brashear of Bowling Green, KY; his son, Darryl (Connie) Morton of Mesa, AZ; three grandchildren, Matthew (Caitlin) Brashear, Jordan (Breein) Morton, and Megan (Jeffery) Ashby; three great grandchildren, Cash Ashby, Emmaline Ashby, and Blakely Brashear; and his beloved cat, Mindy.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Bart Brashear; and his brother, Paul Morton.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. Visitation will be Monday, August 15, 2022, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 4:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Mike Rhodes, Dewayne Chadwick, and Chad Kennedy officiating.
Cremation will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Anna Mae Owen Hospice House at The Foundation at Murray-Calloway County Hospital, 803 Poplar Street, Murray, KY 42071, the charity of your choice, or your local humane society.
