Steve Mitchell

Steve Mitchell, age 69 of Buchanan, TN, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Doctor’s Hospital of Augusta, GA.

He was born in Highland Park, MI, on October 27, 1956. Steve is the son of the late Ruel “Mitch” Mitchell Jr., and Lonnie Dodd Mitchell, who survives of Buchanan, TN.

He married Wendy Chandler Mitchell on September 27, 1981. Wendy survives of Buchanan, TN.

Steve had a passion for building and construction projects and always strived for perfection in everything he did. He was known for his strong work ethic and determination. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles and spending time with his model trains. Above all, he loved his family and especially cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and mother, Steve is survived by two children, Shawn Mitchell of Buchanan, TN, and Brandi Mitchell of Paris, TN; one brother, Greg Mitchell of Peoria, IL; and eight grandchildren, Justice Mitchell, Lexus Mitchell, Cassidy Mitchell, Andrew Mitchell, Makana Shimomi, Ryker Hammond, Armani Tharpe, and Lainey Mitchell.

Along with his father, he was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Dale Mitchell.

Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242, is handling the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled Friday, February 20, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at continue Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. officiated by Wilbur Farmer.

Burial will follow the service at the Mitchell Family Farm, Buchanan, TN, 38242. Serving as pallbearers will be Vince Dodd, Brent McBee, Phil Ventrice, Keith Boone, Lonnie Young, and Jeremy Tindall.

Makana Shimomi, Ryker Hammond, Armani Tharpe, Jimmy Kemmerzell, Dale Russell, Josh Mitchell, Jordan Mitchell, and Bryant Mitchell will serve as honorary pallbearers.
