Alma Ruth (Ferguson) Laird, 87, of Paris, Tennessee, passed away on May 23, 2026, in Paris, Tennessee. She was born on April 13, 1939, in Obion County, Tennessee, to Joseph Russell Ferguson and Ida Viola (Pinion) Ferguson.
Mrs. Laird worked throughout her life as a beautician, seamstress, and real estate agent. At the time of her passing, she retired but remained active in her community as a board member of the Henry County Office on Aging. She was also a devoted member of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years.
She was first married to Hubert Hoyle Holcomb Sr., with whom she had four children: Hubert H. "Butch" Holcomb Jr., Franklin R. Holcomb, James M. "Mike" Holcomb, and Pamela M. Holcomb. She later married Vernon Arlee Laird on November 14, 1974, and remained married to him until his passing in 2017.
In addition to her husband, Vernon Arlee "Arlee" Laird, she was preceded in death by her son, Hubert H. "Butch" Holcomb Jr.; her daughter, Pamela M. Holcomb; her parents, Joseph Russell Ferguson and Ida Viola (Pinion) Ferguson; and her siblings, Fred R. Ferguson, Billy G. Ferguson, Martha J. Ferguson, James T. Ferguson, and Reita F. Ferguson.
She is survived by her sons, Frank and Tammie Holcomb, and James M. "Mike" Holcomb; sister, Glenda K. Ferguson Lyttle; grandchildren, Katherine Holcomb, Jan Holcomb, Candi Beeler, Jamie Bethel, Brandi Gatlin, Franklin Holcomb, and Matthew Niebauer; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242, is handling the arrangements. Her remains are to be cremated with no public services to be held at this time.
