Anita Carroll

Anita Carroll, age 81 of Puryear, TN, formerly of Mayfield, KY, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026, at The Farms of Puryear.

Anita was born in Buchanan, TN, on November 14, 1944, to the late Ewell Overcast, and the late Virginia Jackson White.

She married Harold “Buddy” Carroll on November 15, 1980. Buddy preceded her in death on September 7, 1997.

Anita graduated from Buchanan High School in 1962 and always enjoyed reconnecting with her classmates at reunions. She spent 20 years as a Group Leader at Fisher-Price before later managing the Stoplight Café in Puryear, Tennessee. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and brought so much happiness to her life. Anita loved spending time in her garden, caring for her flowers, and enjoyed cooking for her family and loved ones.

Anita is survived by two children, Rodney (Zan) Nance of Springville, TN, and Kristi Jaco of Nashville, TN; four sisters, Rita (Joe) Rainey of Puryear, TN, Verla (Rex) Smith of Puryear, TN, Sherla Adams of Murray, KY, and Eva (Phillip) Smith of Florida; nine grandchildren, Gray Jaco, Beau Jaco, Nia Grace (Troy) Brickles, Tyler Nance, Collin Nance, Isaac Darnell, Allye (R.T.) Shirley, Ethan (Kealey) Darnell, and Evan (Jade) Darnell; and eight great-grandchildren, Grayson Jaco, Cullen Jaco, Tatum Jaco, Nixen Brickles, Adalyn Nance, Nathan Nance, Levi Darnell, and Kanan Darnell.

In addition to her husband and parents, Anita was also preceded in death by two sisters, Freda Bolding and Vicki Plumley.

Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242, is handling the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and continue Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Chad Kennedy officiating.

Entombment will follow at Murray Memorial Gardens with Chad Ferguson, Tyler Nance, Collin Nance, Gray Jaco, Beau Jaco, Troy Brickles, Phillip Smith, Grayson Jaco, and Cullen Jaco serving as pallbearers.
