Bill Sprague, age 94 of Paris, TN, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at his residence.

Bill was born in Springville, TN, on July 31, 1931, to the late William Sprague, and the late Gladys Adams Sprague.

He married his first wife, Patty Perry Sprague, who preceded him in death on August 20, 1996, before marrying his second wife, Jane Halpin Sprague, who preceded him in death on June 9, 2023.

Bill worked as a mechanic for TVA for 25 years before retiring and spending the next decade traveling across Tennessee installing satellites. He served in the U.S. National Guard Reserves for 20 years and was called to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis, before moving to Paris in 1964.

He enjoyed parachuting during the 1960’s, which led to his love for building and flying ultra-light one-man airplanes. He also had a passion for photography.

Bill was a loving father and grandfather, who was always there to support his family. He was a Godly-Christian man who attended Point Pleasant Baptist Church.

He is survived by two children, Cindy (Eddie) Shankle of Paris, TN, and Mark Sprague of Paris, TN; one daughter-in-law, Karen Sprague of Puryear, TN; five step-grandchildren, Tommy (Terri) Berry, Kathy (Mitch) Arrington, Regina (Jesse) Greer, Bryant Berry, and Michael (Janice Weiss) Berry; eight grandchildren, Kevin (Becky) Sprague, Sarah (Jeff) Bell, Suzanne (Chad) Curry, Brad Sprague, Adam Sprague, Christy Sprague, Kayla Sprague, and Elizabeth Marie Buxton; three step grandchildren, Dustin (Shannon) Greer, Dina Greer, and Brooke (Allen) Nicholson; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his two wives and his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two children, Larry Sprague, and Rebecca Sprague White; one infant child, Barry Sprague; one daughter-in-law, Judy Sprague; two sisters, Wilma Sprague Camastro, and Jane Sprague; and one great-grandchild, Keragan Wood.

Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242, is handling the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2025, with Bro. Robert McBroom and Kevin Sprague officiating.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Peyton Kimble, Jett Windsor, Christopher Wood, Tommy Berry, Paul Madar, and BJ Adams serving as pallbearers.
