Cathryn "Cak" Gordon

Cathryn “Cak” Gordon, age 79 of Jackson, TN, formerly of Paris, TN, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at her residence.

Cak was born in Covington, TN, on December 28, 1946, to the late Samuel Delaney Shelton, and the late Cathryn Louise Smith Shelton.

She was married to Malcolm Gordon. Malcolm preceded her in death on October 22, 2008.

Cak was a graduate of Bolton High School in Arlington, TN. She and her husband managed Girl Scout camps for more than 15 years. She was known for her easy going personality and sense of humor. She enjoyed arts and crafts and reading, but most of all, she loved her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ruth Christopher of Jackson, TN; granddaughter, Chelsey Anders, and her children, Tatum, Jordyn, Stevie, and Cimone; granddaughter, Raven Strickland; granddaughter, Morgan (Austin) Payne, and their children, Adrian and Cameron; four sisters, Shirley (Tom) Hightower of Memphis, TN, Janice Loveall of Buena Vista, TN, Terri (Dennis) Key of Covington, TN, and Mary Jane (Jimmy) Rodgers of Mason, TN; and her beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Cak was also preceded in death by three siblings, Nancy, Larkey, and Butch.

Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242, is handling the arrangements. Her remains are to be cremated with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
