Dancel Taylor

Dancel Taylor, age 85 of Puryear, TN, died Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah, KY.

He was a lifelong farmer, who formerly worked for M. Livingston and Time DC.  Dancel was a simple man, he enjoyed farming, being outdoors, and spending time with family.  He loved reading and studying his Bible and going to church.  He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Paris.

Dancel was born July 22, 1935, in Gleason, TN, to the late Orvle Taylor and the late Opal Montgomery Taylor.

He was married October 4, 1958, to Mary Jane Charles Taylor, who survives, of Puryear, TN.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by his daughter, Kathy (Rocky) Johnson of Union City, TN; his son, Charles (Rhonda) Taylor of Puryear, TN; two sisters, Faye (William) Buie of Paris, and Melvene (Randy) Crews of Dyersburg, TN; two brothers, Jerry (Liz) Taylor of Paris, and Roger (Ruth) Taylor of Paris; four grandchildren, Bobby (Missy) Johnson, Cannon (Kristen) Johnson, Ben (Amanda) Killebrew, and Amanda (JMichael) French; and six great grandchildren, Taylor Johnson, Owen Johnson, Charlee Johnson, Bradley Parrish, Eli Killebrew, and Everett French.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Edgar Taylor and Wendell Taylor; and one grandson, Thomas Killebrew.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be Sunday, May 23, 2021, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue Monday, May 24, 2021, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.  The funeral service will be Monday, May 24, 2021, at 1:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Jerry Lee and Jimmy Stairs officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Gamlin, Joe Brewer, JMichael French, Bobby Johnson, Cannon Johnson, and Ben Killebrew.  Named as honorary pallbearers are Gene Page, Elwood Brogdon, Billy Jones, Kenneth Charles, Wayne Nanney, and Scott Grooms.

Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery in Paris, TN.
