Dorothy Ann Melton

Dorothy Ann Melton, age 87 of Paris, TN, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.

Dorothy was born in Henry County, TN, on May 21, 1938, to the late Weldon Davis.

She married J.W. Melton on December 17, 1955. J.W. preceded her in death on November 4, 2011.

Dorothy was a graduate of Springville School. She never met a stranger and was known for her bubbly personality and hard work-ethic. She was grateful in all circumstances and never complained. She was loving and caring to everyone she met, especially her grandchildren. She found joy in music, spending time outdoors, and flowers, especially pink hyacinths. She treasured the time spent with her husband, J.W., fishing, and loved to drive around in her red Ford Ranger.

She is survived by one daughter, Teresa (Bobby Evans) Melton of Paris, TN, three grandchildren, Mila Merrell, Elijah Merrell, and Ella Grace Merrell; bonus granddaughters, Morgan Evans, and Samantha (Josh) Scherfel; and three sisters, Barbara Davis, Willie B. Clary, and Betty Jean Davis.

In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Melton.

Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242, is handling the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Chad Kennedy officiating.

Burial will follow at Bevil Cemetery with Elijah Merrell, Bobby Evans, Ronnie Burnett, Chris Hendrix, Jimmy Roberson, and Eddie Crosser serving as pallbearers.
