Dorothy Lafever Mock

Dorothy Lafever Mock, age 99 of Buchanan, TN passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at her home.

She was born on September 10, 1926, in Puryear, TN, to the late Samuel Lafever and the late Vera McSwain Lafever.

Dorothy married Thomas Mock on May 29, 1945. Thomas preceded her in death in 2007.

She worked in bakeries in Melrose Park, IL, and American Can Company in Maywood, IL. When she moved to Georgia, she worked at Belk and retired from Coopers Bakery.

Dorothy, along with her husband, Thomas, were founding members of Russwood Baptist Church in Springville, TN.

Mrs. Mock is survived by two children, Larry (Reta) Mock of Buchanan, TN, and Janis (Charlie) Cuthbertson of Paris, TN; five grandchildren; and special friends/caretakers, Scarlett Queen and Diane Overby.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Kerry Mock; five sisters, Thelma Lafever, Verna Eyman, Eula Kimbro, Ranice Manier and Mary Lou Appuzzo; and four brothers, Walton Lafever, Willard Lafever, Waylon Lafever, Winfred Lafever, and one infant sibling.

Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242, is handling the arrangements. Visitation will be held Friday, April 17, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Michael James.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Corliss Adams, Scarlett Queen, Greg Chatham, Kevin Hanks, and Cody Bryson to serve as pallbearers.

Emmalynn Taylor, Diane Overby, and Max Canady will serve as honorary pallbearers.
