Florence Knauss, lovingly known as “Flo,” passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, at the age of 88. Born in Vaughn, New Mexico, she lived a full, vibrant life marked by laughter and love.
Flo had five children, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adored her deeply. She was preceded in death by her youngest daughter. She was married for 45 years to the love of her life, Gerald “Gary” Knauss, who also preceded her in death.
For several years, Flo worked as a bartender in Belen, New Mexico, allowing her the opportunity to share her charming personality with her local community. She later worked on the assembly line at Schlage Lock Company in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she made several friends.
Flo delighted in life’s simple pleasures. She loved thrifting, watching her favorite tv shows, visiting casinos, and treating her grandchildren to milkshakes at the local Kwik Inn diner. One of the most cherished chapters of her life was the time she spent living in Vicenza, Italy, where she embraced the culture, scenery, and experiences that stayed with her forever.
Beautiful and stylish, Flo was known for her long flowing hair and infectious sense of humor. Her playful spirit brought joy wherever she went. She especially loved joking with her grandchildren, often using silly voices just to see them smile.
Her home was filled with warmth, laughter, beloved rescue dogs, and a carefully curated collection of knickknacks. Flo treasured time with her family and enjoyed the company of caring neighbors, always ready with a smile and a conversation. She was the life of every gathering she attended or hosted, dancing freely and without hesitation simply because it felt right.
Later, Flo moved to Tennessee to live with her daughter, eventually transitioning to Charter Senior Living, where she made new friends and spoke often of the compassionate nurses who cared for her with dignity and kindness.
Now, as she moves on to her final resting place, we imagine Flo reuniting with her late loved ones and again dancing lightheartedly and unencumbered.
No memorial service will be held at this time, but the family invites you to donate to a local Humane Society, honoring Flo’s lifelong love for her sweet pets.
