Hazel B Chamness

Hazel B. Evans Chamness, age 94 of Paris, TN, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at her residence.

She was born in the 23rd District of Henry County, TN, on April 11, 1931, to the late Freeman Evans, and the late Kadra Johnson Evans.

Hazel married Bobby Joe Chamness, Sr., in July of 1961. Bobby survives of Paris, TN.

Hazel loved attending Sunday School and Bible study and was involved at Maplewood Baptist Church. She was well known for her cooking, especially her Thanksgiving meals. Hazel enjoyed watching TLC on television and was sharp-minded and witty. She enjoyed sharing her candy with her grandchildren and took great pride in her sense of fashion and her jewelry.

Along with her husband, she is survived by five children, Dale (Janette) Jarman of IL, Ronnie (Debra) Jarman of IL, Debbie Chamness of Paris, TN, Sharon Alagna of IL, and Bobby Joe (Marianne) Chamness, Jr. of IL; 11 grandchildren, Karen, Diana, Ron, Laurie, Timothy, Richard, Michelle, David, Dylan, Julia, and Isabella; and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.

Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242, is handling the arrangements. Her remains are to be cremated with no public services scheduled at this time.
