Horace Putman Parker, Jr. died at the age of 88 on January 4, 2026, in Hudson, OH with his son Timothy by his side.
Horace was born on April 14, 1937, in St. Louis, MO. His parents, the late Horace Sr. and the late Gladys Parker were from Paris, TN, so while growing up Horace Jr. visited aunts, uncles, and cousins for fishing and hunting trips every year, creating some of his fondest memories. As an adult, he regularly attended the annual Parker Mizell family reunion in Paris.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a steadfast Christian in all areas of his life. By trade he worked for forty years as a railroad engineer, but his passion was antique collecting and appraising. Between his wife June Parker’s keen eye for detail and their shared knowledge of history and value, they made a team of well-respected antique dealers. In addition to antiques, they shared many interests including a love of gardening, fishing, dogs, family, and their Christian faith. They enjoyed being together so much that when she predeceased him on October 1, 2016, he never recovered from the grief and his health and mental abilities declined each passing year.
Horace is survived by a daughter, Deborah Parker; a step-daughter, Jennifer Ash; three sons, Timothy Parker, Andrew Parker, and Brian Parker; four grandchildren, Zoe and Dillon Yoho, and Payton and Adeline Parker; and one great-grandchild, Braylen Ash.
Along with his beloved wife June, he is predeceased by his parents, Horace Sr. and Gladys Parker; three brothers, Gerald Parker, Richard Parker, and James Parker; and a grandson, Casey Ash.
Visitation will be held on January 17, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with a funeral service at 1:00 PM with Ed Smith officiating.
Burial will immediately follow the service at Van Dyke Church of Christ Cemetery, 4935 Hwy 77, Paris, TN.
