Jack Caruthers, age 78 of Stewart, TN, died Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at his residence.
He was a longtime self-employed contractor in Steele, MO. Jack was a U.S. Marine veteran, serving in the Vietnam era. He also was a former member of the Caruthersville, MO, National Guard, a member of the VFW Post in Big Sandy, TN, and the American Legion. Jack loved fishing, hunting, and baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. He was an excellent builder and enjoyed building birdhouses and picture frames. He loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica.
Jack was born June 4, 1943, in Poplar Bluff, MO, to the late Carlos Basil Caruthers and the late Lucille Helen Bishop Caruthers.
He was married to Betty Sanage Caruthers, who preceded him in death in 1998.
He is survived by three brothers, Don (Janette) Caruthers of Desloge, MO, Verlin “Wayne” Caruthers of Potosi, MO, and Lynn Caruthers of Festus, MO; three nieces, Missy (Mike) Coppege of MS, Neicie (Rob) Tidwell of Bonneterre, MO, and Karen Caruthers of Fenton, MO; three nephews, Guy Caruthers of Potosi, MO, Jimmy (Melanie) Caruthers of Potosi, MO, and Donnie (Linda) Caruthers of Eureka, MO; and special friend, Betty Cox of Stewart, TN.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Carlos Caruthers; and special friend, Bobby Cox.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. A graveside service will be held Monday, December 6, 2021, at 11:00 am at Memorial Cemetery in Paris, TN, with Chad Kennedy officiating.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
Entombment will follow the graveside service in Memorial Cemetery in Paris, TN.
