James Edgar Phelps, age 92, of Paris, TN, died Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, TN.

He was married May 21, 1944 to Edna E. Throgmorton Phelps  and she survives. He was a member of First Baptist Church, a US Army WW II Veteran and received 2 Purple Hearts.   His Grandfather, Andrew William Phelps, served in the Civil War.  He retired after working many years at Holley Carburetor Plant.  Edgar enjoyed UT football, duckhunting, fishing, building birdhouses, bird watching, & gardening.

He was the son of the late Henry Lillard Phelps and the late Effie Nora Throgmorton Phelps Hastings.

He is also survived by:
One Daughter, Emily Garthright of Memphis, TN; Grandchildren, Natalie (Brian) Cathey, and Carson Phelps (Gwynn) Garthright;  Great Grandchild, Gabrielle Cathey; Special Niece, Amy Rose and several other Nieces and Nephews.

He was also preceded in death by: Sisters, Inez Bilino, Lorene Underwood, and Mary Evelyn Owen; and Brother, Louie Phelps.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St. Paris, TN, where visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, March 29, 2013 and after 12:00 PM until the service Saturday, March 30, 2013.  Funeral service will be in LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 30, 2013, with Trent Bullock officiating.  Interment will be at Memorial Cemetery in Paris, TN.

Pallbearers will be: Carson Phelps Garthright, Brian Cathey, John Thomas Rose, Charlie Rose, Troy Bruce, John Dale French, Kenneth Norwood, Brad Norwood, and Paul Norwood
Honorary Pallbearers are: Gordon Owen, Jimmy Williams, Neville Barrow, Scott and Kevin Nanney.

Memorials may be made to the Charity of your choice.
