James W. Glisson, age 92 of Paris, TN, died Monday, September 27, 2021, at his residence.
He retired after many years as a brick mason. James enjoyed the outdoors, mowing his lawn, and sitting on his front porch waving. He was a member of Mansfield Baptist Church in Mansfield, TN.
James was born March 28, 1929, in Paris, TN, to the late Ray Glisson and the late Macon Clayton Glisson.
He was married December 25, 1955, to Helen Marie Reynolds Glisson, who preceded him in death on December 24, 2020.
He is survived by one daughter, Carol (Tim) Borchert of Camden, TN; one son, Barry Glisson of Houston, TX; one sister, Shirley Dunbar of Illinois; one brother, Kenneth Glisson of Puryear, TN; 10 grandchildren, Amanda (Gabriel) Flores, Shaun Borchert, Misty Michelle Glisson, Heather (Paul) Scott, Ricky Glisson, Pam (Josh) Enoch, Kobi Glisson, Stephanie Renee Glisson, Carrie Lane Ross, and Marlene Glisson; and 14 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sons, James Glisson, Jr., and Ronnie Glisson; one son in infancy, Charles Glisson; three sisters, Dorothy Glisson, Velma Call, and Virginia Means; and five brothers, Waddell Glisson, Weldon Glisson, Buford Glisson, Aubrey Glisson, and Donnie Glisson.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242. Visitation will be Friday, October 1, 2021, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue Saturday, October 2, 2021, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. The funeral service will be Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 11:00 am at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Thomas Glisson officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Ward, Rodney Chilcutt, Anthony Dickson, David Todd, Ricky Glisson, and Frankie Glisson.
Burial will be in Mansfield Baptist Church Cemetery in Mansfield, TN.
