Jane D. "Betty" Carter

Jane Dell “Betty” Carter age 87 of Paris, TN, died Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the West Tennessee Healthcare Henry Co. Hospital in Paris.

Betty retired from Tecumseh Products after working 25 and half years in the quality control department. Prior to her husband’s death, they along with family and dear friends enjoyed traveling in their RV, and riding motorcycles. She was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church. Betty loved her family very much and was especially fond of her great grandchildren.

Betty was born June 14, 1938 to the late Willie C. Boyd and to the late Etna R. Jones Boyd.

She married Henry A. Carter April 10, 1956, and he preceded her in death April 10, 2009.

Survivors include her daughter, Kim (Chris) Champion of Buchanan, TN; two grandchildren, Brandy Gail Carter of Paris, and Charlie G. Carter of Alabama; and two great grandchildren, John Carter and Carly Jo.

Along with her husband of 53 years, she was also preceded in death by a son, Rickey A. Carter; a grandson, Scotty Carter; four sisters, Eva Pierce, Allene Clayton, Beatrice Cook, and Myrtle Canady; and four brothers, Leon Boyd, Gene Boyd, Jimmy Boyd, and Gerald Thomas Boyd who died in infancy.

Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St./ P.O. Box 788, Paris, TN 38242, will be handling the arrangements. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. Her funeral service will be held Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Solowey officiating.

Serving as pallbearers for the service will be Donnie Clayton, Mike Noss, Tim Hart, Ricky Miles, Jon Paul Moody, and Mark Champion.

Honorary pallbearers will be Peggy Hart, Allen and Nellie Williams, Carrie Grooms, Dell and Valerie Carter, Ronnie and Betsy Boyd, Rusty and Candise Farmer, Marie and Roger Cooper, Robert Evans, Cindy Noss, Diane Caldwell, Joyce McNutt, Ellen Clayton, Linda Maynard, Sandy Varney, Rozana Lacy, and Wynette Wilkins.

Burial will follow the service in Memorial Cemetery.
