Janet L. Wheatley

Janet L. Wheatley, age 83 of Paris, TN, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at her residence surrounded by family.

She was a homemaker and a member of New Harmony Baptist Church in Paris. Janet enjoyed crocheting, RVing, traveling, and had visited all 50 states. She loved visiting and staying at Lost Valley Lake in Owensville, MO.

Janet was born November 29, 1940, in Granite City, IL, to the late Edward Tanksley and the late Florence Reeves Tanksley.

She was married March 6, 1957, to her husband of 67 years, Buryl Wheatley, who survives, of Paris, TN.

Along with her husband, she is also survived by two daughters, Kim (Todd) Bogenrief of Paris, TN, and Kellie Shipp (Mark Cox) of Granite City, IL; one sister, Ruth Ann Stephens of Pontoon Beach, IL; seven grandchildren, Jason Harris, Katie Woods, Karen Shipp, Megan Steele, Roger Hyde, Danielle McBeth, and Jacob Bogenrief; and nine great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Karrie Wheatley; and two brothers, George Tanksley and Ron Tanksley.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. The body is to be cremated with a memorial service to be planned at a later date.
