Jerry McElroy, 86, of Clermont, Florida, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at South Lake Hospital in Florida.
Jerry was born on July 21,1940 in Henry County, Tennessee. He was the son of the late W. M. McElroy and the late Merle Ross McElroy. He married Lynnet Orr McElroy on November 22,1962 and she survives.
Jerry worked with the Tennessee Department of Transportation for 50 years. He retired as supervisor of the Paris and Camden offices. He and his wife also had a cattle farm in the Hico community and were the owners of Kristi’s Korner, formally of Paris, TN.
He was a member of The Church at South Lake in Clermont and was active in the Buses and Backpacks ministry until back surgery caused his retirement. While living in Paris, he attended Birds Creek Baptist Church where he was a deacon for 50 years.
Besides his wife, Lynnet, he is survived by three children, Lisa (Bill) Pauley of Wildwood, MO, Michael McElroy of Clermont and Kristi (Rob) Stivers of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Morgan (Martin) Caparros of Minneola, Fl and Logan (Autumn) Pauley of St Louis, MO; great-grandson Carter Caparros; sister-in-law, Pat McElroy of Puryear; brother-in-law, Randy (Marci) Orr of Cleveland, Ohio; niece, Emilee (Randall) Evans of Strongsville, Ohio; and nephews, Ken (Melissa) McElroy and John (Gracian) McElroy of Puryear and their families; and family friend, Dave Golias of Clermont.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby McElroy and his in-laws, Ewell and Velma Orr.
He was cremated in Florida. Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN will be assisting with local services. Memorial visitation will be Monday, September 14, 2026, at Ridgeway Funeral Home from 12 – 3 pm with a graveside celebration of life at Walker Cemetery at 4:00 pm Monday with burial to follow. Randy Orr will officiate.
