Jimmy N. Hopper passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN, at the age of 85.
Jimmy was born on September 15, 1940, in Kenton, Tennessee, to the late John H. Hopper, Jr. and the late Maxine Dozier Hopper.
He married Eulene Moore Hopper on January 1, 1961. Eulene preceded him in death on December 3, 2022.
A proud member of Mansfield Baptist Church, Jimmy served for many years as a deacon, demonstrating his commitment to his faith and community. His dedication extended beyond the church, as he spent many years as a Lieutenant Deputy with the Henry County Sheriff's Department. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Before his tenure in law enforcement, Jimmy was a farmer. He enjoyed hard work and the beauty of nature. In retirement, he found joy in a new passion—rebuilding old, wrecked trucks.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Jill (Chris) Thompson, of Henry, TN; his son, Jeff (Patty) Hopper of Buchanan, TN; and his sister, Terri (David) Rushing of McKenzie, TN; three grandchildren, Jennifer Stallings, Ashton Thompson, and Andrew (Ashley) Thompson; and four great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Patsy Gordon and June Hopper.
Visitation will be at Ridgeway Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM with the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Gerry Gallimore will officiate.
Burial will be at Henry Cemetery with Scott Wyrick, Ron Eaker, Eddie Crosser, Josh Frey, Bruce Alexander, Damon Lowe, and Rudy Davis serving as pallbearers.
