John Coil Williams

John Coil Williams, age 77 of Buchanan, TN, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN.

John retired from Abbott Labs, in Chicago, IL, after working there for 22 years as an engineering technician.

Born August 14, 1947, in Mexico, MO to the late Harold Williams and the late DoLores Alexander Williams.

He voluntarily joined the U.S. Army in 1966 and was assigned to the First Infantry Division 2D Battalion, and the 28th Infantry “Black Lions” before being deployed to Vietnam. Shortly after his return, he married Donna Wasser Williams on November 7, 1970.

He spent his later years of retirement with his wife, Donna, living in West Tennessee, enjoying lake life, golfing with his buddies, spending time with his good friends, and living in the country. He especially enjoyed his time with his extended family and wonderful neighbors in Dover and Buchanan.

In addition to his wife of 54 years, John is survived by his two sons, Shawn (Randy) Knudson of Grand Marais, MN, and Shannon (Katie) Williams of Sheboygan, WI; one sister-in-law, Bonnie Wasser of Kaukauna, WI; and three granddaughters, Nora, Audra, and Evelyn.

Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242, is handling the arrangement. His remains are to be cremated with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
