Jon Frederic Huizinga, age 66, of Buchanan, TN, passed away on August 9, 2025, at his residence.
Jon was born on April 17, 1959, in Chicago IL to the late Elwood “Jack” Huizinga and Marilyn Haak Huizinga, who survives of Bloomington IL.
He grew up on the Fox River in Fox River Grove, IL and instantly became a “river rat.” His love of the water and the outdoors was in his blood. He was hired by the Village of Fox River Grove in 1978, where he met the love of his life, and fishing partner, Christine Brodkorb. They were married on September 25, 1993.
Jon served the Village of Fox River Grove for over 35 years. He was Supt. of Public Works for over 20 years where he planned and worked on many projects that made the Village a better place to live. He retired in 2014.
Jon and Chris loved fishing on Kentucky Lake and made Buchanan their home in 2018.
He was not afraid to do anything and could tackle any job. Jon was a dedicated and dependable husband, son, brother, and friend.
In addition to his wife and mother, he was also survived by his sister, Susan (Joe) Alford, three aunts, Carol Syles, Ruth (Ed) Mosher, and Suzanne Huizinga, and several cousins.
In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by two uncles, William Syles, and Donald Huizinga.
Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St./ P.O. Box 788, Paris, TN 38242 TN will be handling the arrangements. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
