Kathy Jean Walker

Kathy Jean Walker age 73 of Paris, TN, died Sunday, January 25, 2026, at her residence.

Kathy had formerly worked at Betty’s Café in Bicknell, IN, before moving to the Kentucky Lake area in the 1990’s. She worked for several years in the kitchen at Murray Calloway County Hospital. The last 17 years she has been employed by the Henry County School System as a bus driver where she was known as Miss Kathy. She enjoyed spending time with her family and gained immense joy from her great grandbabies.

Born April 4, 1952, Kathy was the daughter of the late Lee A. Gates, Sr., and the late Bonnie Percy Crain.

Kathy was married to Robert Burress who preceded her in death.

Survivors left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Brandy (Bob Cash) Young of Indiana; two sisters Bonita Abrams and Della (Robert) Lowery; five grandchildren; Brittany (Ryan Meredith) Jones, Chelsea (Aaron Gray) Young, Kenzie (Benjamin) Bush, Kyle (Maddie) Walker, and Dustin Young; nine great grandbabies, Kaiden, Chloe, Kinzlee, Isabella, Tatum, Maddox, Asher, Griffin, and Rosalee; and two sisters in law, Melodi Gates, and Billie Gates.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Denny Walker; two sisters, Tammie Farley, and April Nicholson; two brothers, Cary L. Gates, Sr., and Lee A. Gates, Jr.; and a brother in law, Terry Abrams.

Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St./ P.O. Box 788, Paris, TN, will be handling the arrangements. Her body is to be cremated, A Celebration of Life is planned for May 23, 2026, at the Matthew Shelter at West End Park 100 West 2nd St. Rushville, Indiana, 46173 with the time to be announced later.
