Larry Benton, age 88, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and devotion to family.
Raised in Sardinia, NY in 1938, Larry lived a life grounded in his deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ. He was a faithful and devoted husband to his beloved wife, Jean, and a loving father to his three children: Patty (spouse Dan), Tammy (spouse Ed), and Mike (spouse Laura), and his half-sister Kim Drews (spouse Manfred). He was a proud grandfather to Sarah (spouse Cristian) and Josh, and a joyful great-grandfather to Isla, Marley, and Tzipora.
Larry served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps, carrying forward the values of discipline, integrity, and service throughout his life. Following his military service, he earned a degree in Accounting from Murray State University, laying the foundation for a career as a public servant. He dedicated more than 30 years of faithful service to the State of Tennessee, where he was known for his reliability, professionalism, and quiet commitment.
A longtime member of First Baptist Church in Paris, Tennessee, Larry lived out his faith not only in word but in action—serving others, loving his family well, and walking humbly with God. He was previously a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Nashville, where he served as a Deacon, drove the bus to pick up attendees who could not drive, and demonstrated his heart for Jesus by serving in many other service capacities.
Visitation will be at Ridgeway Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. A private graveside service will be held at the Camden City Cemetery.
