Lois Goad Conroy, born July 17, 1966, gave up her valiant fight against colon cancer on December 10, 2025. She was the cherished wife of Richard Boone Conroy for 26 years, and mother of Richard Goad Conroy, Thomas Boone Conroy, and Patrick McClure Conroy. Her sons were her pride and joy in whose professional, academic, and athletic achievements she found particular pleasure - she was an ardent supporter of Henry County Patriots Football.
Graduating from Clarksville High School, she matriculated at Austin Peay State University, Majoring in Education with a focus on Special Education. After entering the Clarksville Montgomery County School System as a teacher, she continued her education receiving a Master’s Degree in Education; most of her career was spent at Northeast Middle School.
After the births of Rick and Thomas, the family moved to the Conroy Family Farm in Henry County where she embraced her new adventure of devoted farmer’s wife and raising future farmers, adding Patrick to the two existing miniature farm hands. Lois loved the farm and farming, and friends and family particularly enjoyed her photographs of life on the farm with its changing seasons and rotations of planting and harvests. As the boys matured and became more independent, she assumed the responsibilities for bookkeeping and administrative functions for the farm. Visiting the farm, guests would find Lois surrounded by the pack of Conroy Dogs.
Lois had an exuberant and innocent joy for life, which earned her many devoted friends, many of whom gave steadfast support as she fought her disease. Faith as well was a cornerstone of her life–raised in the Nazarene Church, she embraced Roman Catholicism, having married into a strongly Irish Catholic family. Lois was a fighter; her diagnosis in 2018 carried a prognosis of only a few months, but faith, family, friends, and a determination to see her children grow into adults sustained her throughout the battle, which she fought with every fiber of her being. She is now at peace, having run the good race and fought the good fight.
In addition to her husband, sons, and many friends, she will be missed by her mother, Patricia Owen Goad; brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Tammy Goad, mother in-law, Emily Conroy; future daughter-in-law, Emma Thompson, and her aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded by her father, Thomas Goad; and her brother, Darrell Goad. The family wishes to thank her remarkably steadfast friends who helped carry her last weeks, especially Tammy Goad, Janice and Daryl Simms, Cathy McCoy, Jack Miller, Becky and Jason Coffield, and Isabel Neumair, and the nurses and staff of Tennessee Quality Hospice, especially Stephanie and Kayla.
The family will receive visitors at Ridgeway Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery with Hugh Polland, John Polland, William Pollard, Glendon Adams, Chaz Brewer, and Alexander Owen serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Paris Henry County Animal Shelter, c/o The City of Paris, PO Box 970, Paris, TN 38242.
