Margaret (Banks) Loudy, 100, of Eldorado, formerly of Paris, TN, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026 in the Villa’s of Hollybrook in Harrisburg, IL.

Margaret was born on April 7, 1926 in Erwin, TN to the late Dewey and Edna (Fender)Banks, their only child. She was the eldest grandchild of Wesley and Lillie (Thomas) Banks of Erwin, TN and one of the eldest grandchildren of Andy and Bonnie (Blankenship) Fender of Flagpond, TN. As a child she attended Love Street School and was a 1944 graduate of Unicoi County High School and she went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in education from East Tennessee State in 1948. She taught one year in Knoxville, TN while her fiance, David Loudy finished college at ETSU after coming home from WWII. She married Harold David Loudy on December 28, 1948, and in 1949 they both accepted teaching jobs in Paris, TN and moved there and made it their home for over 60 years. Margaret moved to Eldorado, IL to be close to her son and grandson in 2013.

Margaret and David were very devoted members of the First Baptist Church in Paris, TN, where Margaret served the church in many ways including being the church librarian for many years. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, charter member of “Paris Organ Club” which later became the “Fellowship Club”, “LLL” club, and Paris Quota Club. Margaret was always crafty, she was a good seamstress, making her and David’s clothing in her early years, she enjoyed needle pointing, calligraphy and setting up her window displays in the church library. She collected colored glass goblets, admiring her Blue Ridge Pottery collection, working crossword puzzles, watching the butterflies, hummingbirds and game shows on TV and of course getting her hair done.

She was preceded in death by her husband David in 2011. She is survived by her son, Dan (Mindy) Loudy of Eldorado and her grandson, Grant Loudy and his girlfriend Adrienne Poore of Eldorado and one special niece, Janice (Loudy) Spillman of Brentwood, TN and many cousins and nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Memorial Cemetery in Paris, TN. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at the Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris, TN from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Villas of Hollybrook- Reflections Memory Care who provided excellent care for Margaret in the last few years of her life.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Paris TN.
