Marjorie Pemberton Blackwood

Marjorie Pemberton Blackwood, age 98 of Paris, TN, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Henry County Health and Rehabilitation.

Marjorie was born in Weakley County, TN, on February 27, 1927, to the late James Houston Pemberton, and the late Laura Peebles Pemberton.

In 1951, she married Prince C. Blackwood, who preceded her in death in 1988.

Marjorie was a secretary at Lee School and Inman Middle School for over 20 years. She was a long-time member of East Wood Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Henry County Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary organization, Town and Country Homemakers club, and the Athena Delphian Club. Marjorie enjoyed spending time with her friends playing Bridge. She was known for being a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family.

She is survived by two children, Janice Edgman of Paris, and Gary (Connie) Blackwood of Lexington, TN; four grandchildren, Carrie (Mark) Dicus of Paris, Rebecca Alexander of Paris, Wes (Kelly) Blackwood of Lafayette, TN, and Ryan (Lauren) Blackwood of Kenton, TN; and six great-grandchildren, Avery Dicus, Rylee and Emilee Alexander, Andrew and Dylan Blackwood, and Maebry Blackwood.

In addition to her husband and her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Gerald “Jerry” Edgman.

Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242, is handling the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on October 25, 2025, at Ridgeway Funeral Home with John Dale officiating.

Burial will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery with Wes Blackwood, Ryan Blackwood, Andrew Blackwood, Dylan Blackwood, Mark Dicus, and Jack Sparks, Jr.
