Mary Sue Laycook Boyd

Gallatin, Tennessee

Mary Sue Laycook Boyd, age 85, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, at her home in Gallatin, TN. 

 

Sue was born in Carroll County, TN, on March 10,1939, to the late William Jessie Laycook and the late Mary Christine Haddock Laycook.  

 

She spent most of her life in Paris, TN where she met and married Willie Gene Boyd and raised four children. Sue was a selfless, compassionate mother and grandmother who loved her family fiercely and unconditionally. Whether she was “Mom” or “Granny Sue” to you, you knew without question that her heart and her door were open to you no matter the time or the situation.  She had a beautiful way about her that made you feel better just by being in her presence.  She was the true definition of empathy and loving-kindness and will be missed beyond measure. 

 

She is survived by two children, Ronnie Boyd of Paris, TN, and Michelle (Sabrina) Boyd of Gallatin, TN; four grandchildren, Stacie Pack, Eric Pack, Brandon Boyd, and Adam Boyd; nine great grandchildren, Tyler Long, Marissa Tharpe, Maranda Tharpe, Trey Tharpe, Justen Pack, Lily Ann Pack, River Boyd, Ava Jewel Boyd, and Eli Boyd; five great-great grandchildren, Novah, DeMari, and Nakiyah Howard, and Kaydence and Kamiyah Edmonson; and two brothers, Bill Laycook and Charles Laycook. 

 

In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Boyd; her daughter, Vickie Boyd Grace; her daughter-in-law, Allison Adams Boyd; her sister, Helen Colley; and her brother, Larry Laycook.

 

The family would like to thank the staff of Alive Hospice for their care and compassion.  

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. The body is to be cremated with a private memorial to be held at a later date.
