Mary Jane Taylor

Mary Jane Charles Taylor age 85 of Puryear, TN, died Monday, June 16, 2025, in Canton, OH, while on a girls' trip with her daughter and daughter in law.

Mary Jane retired after working over thirty years as a tax preparer for H & R Block. Prior to that she worked at Holley Carburetor Plant until its closing. She enjoyed gardening, being outside, and traveling, especially road trips with her family to pick up tractors or girl trips to various areas of interest. Mary Jane was an avid collector of Longaberger Baskets with an extensive knowledge of them and a personal collection with nearly four hundred pieces. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

She married Dancel Taylor October 4, 1958, and he preceded her in death May 20, 2021.

Born October 1, 1939, in Puryear, TN, she was the daughter of the late Houston Charles, and the late Essie B. Stagner Charles.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy (Rocky) Johnson of Union City, TN; her son, Charles (Rhonda) Taylor, of Puryear, TN; a brother, Kenneth (Faye) Charles of Puryear, TN; four grandchildren, Ben (Amanda) Killebrew, Bobby (Missy) Johnson, Cannon (Kristen) Johnson, and Amanda (J-Michael) French; and six great grandchildren, Owen Johnson, Taylor Johnson, Charlee Johnson, Bradley French, Eli Killebrew, and Everett French.

Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Thomas Killebrew.

Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St./ P.O. Box 788, Paris, TN 38242 will be handling the services. Visitation will be held Friday, June 20, 2025, from 4:00 until 7:00 pm, and continue Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Her funeral service will be held, Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11:00 am at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Chad Kennedy and Donnie Johnson officiating.

Mary Jane’s grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers with Gary Gamlin, Stacy Nored, Bert Charles, and Jeff Charles serving as honorary pallbearers.

Burial will follow the service in Shady Grove Cemetery.
