Olbert Lee “Bert” Payton, age 75 of Paris, TN, died Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at his residence.
He was the owner & operator of Bert’s Auto Salvage in Paris. He formerly worked at Plumley MFG and Murray Outdoor Products. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a former member of the VFW. Bert loved classic cars, could always put a smile on your face, and was never at a loss for words. He loved his family to the fullest, especially his wife of almost 47 years. For the last 30 years, Bert fought many health battles and now has won because he is with his family and is walking with the Lord in heaven.
Bert was born December 11, 1948, in Olaton, KY, to the late Alvey Payton and the late Lucille Smith Payton.
He was married July 15, 1977, to Donna Jean Parker Payton, who survives, of Paris, TN.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by three grandchildren, Breyer (Kelly) Payton, Benji (Zaneta) Payton, and Gage Payton; and three great grandchildren, Ridge Payton, Liwia Wysokinska, and Kaya Payton.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Scarlett Lindsey and Veronica Killion; and one brother, Dean Payton.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. Visitation will be Sunday, July 7, 2024, from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 4:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Bobby Campbell officiating.
Cremation will follow the service.
