He retired from Northern Illinois University where he worked in maintenance in their heating plant. Paul enjoyed nature, the outdoors, and loved fishing. Paul loved his dogs, and spending time in his family’s cabin in Wisconsin. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran.
Paul was born July 7, 1941, in Aurora, IL, to the late George Madison Shipman and the late Adelle Schomig Shipman.
He was married June 6, 1986, to Jeanine Humphry Shipman, who survives, of Puryear, TN.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by five children, Tennise Shipman of Malta, IL, Mark (Amy) Shipman of Cortland, IL, Dan Shipman of DeKalb, IL, Stephen Shipman of DeKalb, IL, and Christine (Marty) Dombrowski of Ocala, FL; two stepchildren, Rebecca “Becky” (David) Bullion of Paris, and Tracy (Vince) Hopper Dunaway of Paris; six grandchildren, Bradley Shipman, Kristina Dombrowski, Zach Shipman, Jacob (fiancée Hannah) Hunter, Cody (Addi) Hunter, and Katie Bullion; the family dog, Andy; and his grand dogs, Scout, June Bug, & Koda.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his favorite dog, Molly.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN. The body is to be cremated with a graveside memorial service to be held Friday, July 7, 2023, at 10:30 am at Puryear City Cemetery in Puryear, TN.
