Ray Capps

Lowell Ray Capps, age 87 of Paris, TN, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Henry County Hospital.

Ray was born in Hickman County, TN, on May 27, 1938, to the late Elbert Capps, and the late Annie Ray Capps.

On October 12, 1961, Ray married Maggie Pearl Hart Capps, who preceded him in death on November 8, 2008.

Ray was a farmer for 50 years, growing corn and soybeans. He spent time working and retired from DANA, Inc., in Paris, TN. He was a devoted husband, and loving father. His pride and joy were his grandchildren which he loved to spend time with. He was witty and optimistic, and loved to fix things and make specialized tools to help him achieve many tasks.

Ray is survived by his two sons, Scott (Dana) Capps of Paris, TN, and Kenny Capps of Paris, TN; one sister, Louise (Tom) Crawford of Springville, TN; six grandchildren, Ayla (Fernando) Huitzache, Weston Capps, Hayden Capps, Nova Capps, Ronnie Capps, and Waylon Capps; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Ray was preceded in death by one brother, Roy Capps.

Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242, is handling the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Dana Capps officiating.

Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery with Weston Capps, Hayden Capps, Fernando Huitzache, Hugo Armas, Josh Armas, Leslie Hart serving as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bailey Armas and Chris Bennett.
