Richard Orlando Battles

Richard Battles, age 83 of Paris, TN passed away Saturday, October 17, 2026, at West Tennessee Healthcare – Henry County Hospital in Paris, TN.

Richard was born in Attala, AL on October 22, 1942, to the late Richard Eugene Battles and the late Evelyn Juanita Wicks Battles.

On December 25, 1963, he married Anna Lou Basson Battles. She preceded him in death on June 23, 2025.

Richard served his country in the United States Army from 1963-1966 while serving a tour in Vietnam. He was a member of Oak Hill Union Church, an avid hunter, outdoorsman, RC operator, and motorcycle rider. He was also a lifelong Ham radio operator (KB4TKM).

Richard was a lifelong aviator, pilot, flight instructor and aviation mechanic. He spent 20 years as the manager of the Henry County Airport in Paris, TN.

He is survived by one son, Daryl (Kheri) Battles of Paris, TN; two grandchildren, Evelyn Rose Battles, and Karl Alexander Battles; two brothers, Bobby Battles of Paris, TN, and Billy Battles of Hanover, IN; and one niece and one nephew.

Along with his parents and wife, Richard was preceded in death by two children, Lanita Battles and Karl Edward Battles.
