Richard Mcdavid

Richard McDavid, age 76 of Paris, TN, died Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris.

He retired from Siegel Roberts Corporation in Newbern, TN, in 2014.  He was a member of New Bethel Church of Christ since moving back to Paris in January 2015. Richard was a 1962 graduate of Springville High School, where he played basketball on the winningest team in the school’s history.  He also enjoyed woodworking.

Richard was born August 27, 1944, in Paris, TN, to the late Arville Edward McDavid and the late Frances Wade McDavid.

He was married June 5, 1971, to his wife of 49 years, Patricia Crowe McDavid, who survives of Paris.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by two sons, Andy (Betsy) McDavid of Jackson, MI, and Chris (Sarah) McDavid of Madison, AL; one sister, Ann Ward of Southaven, MS; three brothers, Charles (Donna) McDavid, Frank (Wanda) McDavid, and John (Barbara) McDavid; five grandchildren, Brett McDavid, Laura (Drew) Galloway, Morgan McDavid, Ryan McDavid, and Leila McDavid; one very special aunt, Monel Wade; and many cousins and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Wayne McDavid in 2003.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, P.O. Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be Saturday, December 12, 2020, from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 12, 2020, at 1:00 pm at New Harmony Baptist Church, 7050 Hwy 69 S, Paris, TN 38242, with Charles Cate officiating.  At the family’s request, masks must be worn and social distancing observed during both visitation and the service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Andy McDavid, Chris McDavid, Charles McDavid, Frank McDavid, John McDavid, and Bobby Comer.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the 1961-1962 Springville High School basketball team.

Burial will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery in Springville, TN.
