Robert Gene Bratton

Robert Gene Bratton, age 82 of Paris, TN, died Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital West in Nashville, TN.

He retired after a long career as a machinist for Emerson Electric in Paris.  Robert was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 89 at Paris Landing.  He was a member of the West TN Rural Heritage Association, enjoyed antique tractors, and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Paris.

Robert was born May 16, 1941, in the Osage community of Henry County, TN, to the late Walter Douglas Bratton and the late Lillian Dale Clark Bratton.

He was first married to Vesta May Bratton, who preceded him in death.  He later married Linda Isbell Bratton, who also preceded him in death.

He is survived by two children, Mary (Michael) Norton of Paris, TN, and John (Linda) Bratton of Camden, TN; two stepchildren, Gayla (Donnie) Luke of IN, and David Anderson of Martin, TN; one brother, Walter Douglas (Sue) Bratton, Jr., of Paris, TN; three grandchildren, Christi Wilkins, Jessi (Christian) Vogel, and Grant Lambert; and numerous great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, first wife, and second wife, he was also preceded in death by one stepson, Robert Anderson; and one sister, Martha Joy Joyner.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 10, 2023, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.  The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Dr. Johnathan Smith and Buddy Morris officiating.  

Serving as pallbearers will be Lee Chandler, Jeremy Clark, Kenny Wilson, Ron Singleton, Dakota Bratton, and Tommy Chandler.  Named as an honorary pallbearer is Ronnie Singleton.

Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Garden in Paris, TN.
