Robert Richard “Bob” Penzenik, age 83 of Springville, TN died Sunday December 14, 2025, at his residence.
Bob was born May 5, 1942, in Chicago, IL to the late John Penzenik and the late Mary Cartwright Penzenik.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Geneva, whom he met later in life than most. Although their time together was cut short, they were truly blessed by the time they shared. They deeply valued one another’s company, attending church together and spending time with their wonderful friends and family. He was an active member of Sulphur Well Church of Christ.
A fan of science and technology from a young age, Bob was a natural fit for the emerging field of computer programming, a career he began in the early 1960s and enjoyed for more than 40 years. A pioneer in the industry, he relished solving business problems alongside his colleagues and valued the camaraderie of his work friends. Over the years, he served many companies, both as an employee and as a consultant. As a consultant, his work took him to various locations, and he often joked that he was a “migrant worker.” While he loved his career, Bob was equally happy to become a “cubicle refugee” upon retirement, freeing him to pursue his many interests.
By land, sea, and air, Bob embraced life to the fullest. He delighted in traveling, dabbled in aviation, was an avid sailor, and in recent years found a new love of cycling, logging more than 27,000 miles. Two years ago, he completed a 240-mile ride across Missouri on the Katy Trail. As with all that he loved, these experiences were made richer by the friends, family, and loved ones who shared the journey with him.
Along with his wife, Bob is survived by his children, Lori Price and Richard (Sue) Penzenik; a brother, John (Maureen) Penzenik; grandchildren, Christopher (Amy), Shannon (Eric), Colleen (Joe), Steven, Andrew, Samantha (Brandon), Robert, and Danielle; ten great-grandchildren; two nieces, Erin, and Allison.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his previous wives, Sharon, Rachel, and Ruth; and a son-in-law, Tom Price.
