Robert Lowell Collingwood, Sr.

April 9, 1929 — October 18, 2022

Robert Lowell Collingwood, Sr., age 93 of Puryear, TN, formerly of Spring Hill, FL and Branford, CT, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday morning, October 18, 2022, after a brief illness.  He was the beloved husband of 60 years to the late Barbara McRoberts Collingwood.

Born April 9, 1929, in Greenfield, MA, Bob was the son of Frank and Justine (Taber) Collingwood.  He was a multi-sport athlete, All New England lacrosse, and a graduate of Deerfield Academy, Nichols Junior College, where he was instrumental in starting their lacrosse program, and Western New England College.  He was a medic in the US Air Force from 1950-1954, and a longtime sales representative for General Fibre Box Company.  Prior to retirement, he and Barbara owned and operated Curry Copy Center in Branford, CT, where he was an active member of the First Congregational Church, was Republican Registrar of Voters for 16 years, a past president of the Branford Lions Club, past Master of Widow’s Son Lodge #66 AF & AM, and past Commander of New Haven Commandery No. 2.  A 55-year Mason, he was also past Commander of Hernando Commandery in Spring Hill, FL, and Past Grand Commander of the Third Chivalric District of the Grand Commandery of Florida.

Bob is survived by five children:  Melinda (Richard) Yester of Branford, CT, Andrea Collingwood of Ireland formerly of Guilford, CT, R. Lowell (Maureen) Collingwood, Jr. of Puryear, TN with whom he made his home, Keith Collingwood of Orlando, FL and Scott (Kim) Collingwood of Ballston Spa, NY.  He also leaves nine grandchildren:  Doug (Liesl), Jeremy (Lauren), Eric, Jonathan, Andrew (Jamie), Nikita (Olivia), Denis, Natalya and Anya; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Anna; two step great-grandchildren, Damien and Cody, and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Justine Collingwood-Brown, his son-in-law, John Kelly, his sister, Janet Koch, and brothers, Frank Jr. and James Sr.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.  He will be laid to rest beside his wife in Bushnell National Cemetery, Florida.
