Roger “Van” Smith, age 68 of Paris, TN, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at his residence.
Van was born in Fleming, KY, on August 2, 1957, to the late Daniel Van Smith and the late Doris Jean Isaacs Fields.
On June 1, 1984, he married Jennifer Suzanne Knowles Smith. Jennifer survives of Paris, TN.
Van was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He worked for 25 years as an auto detailer, along with 10 years at Celotex and 5 years at Sander Sawmill. He enjoyed attending car shows and visiting gun shops, but most of all, he cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Van is survived by four children, Candise (Todd Edgil) Smith of Paris, TN, Adam (Michele) Smith of Eau Claire, WI, Aaron Smith of Paris, TN, and Ashley (Mike) Deeter of Paris, TN; one brother, George Anthony (Jodie) Fields of Camden, TN; nine grandchildren, Savannah Gulish, William Edgil, Kamryn Smith, Chloe Smith, Emma Smith, Marshall Smith, Korbyn Hart, Alissa Deeter, and Addison Deeter; three great-grandchildren, Baylor Smith, Steely Smith, and Marleigh Smith; and three brothers-in-law, Mike Hudspeth, Roland (Denise) Knowles, and Alan Knowles; and one sister-in-law, Cyndi Weldon.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Gloria Hudspeth.
Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242, is handling the arrangements. Visitation will be held Friday, May 1, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with some Words of Remembrance to be shared at 1:00 p.m.
Cremation will follow the service.
