Sammy Hosford

The funeral service for former carburetor plant employee and retired First Baptist Church building superintendent Sammy Dale Hosford of Paris was scheduled at 1 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, where he was a member.

Trent Bullock and Larry Simmons were to officiate. Burial was to follow in Walker Cemetery.

Chosen as pallbearers are Tommy Priddy, Gary French, Tony, Andy and Bubba Macias, Homer Maddox and Bobby Owen.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Friendship Sunday school class and First Baptist Church staff members.

Visitation was Sunday at Ridgeway Funeral Home and an hour before the service today at the church.

Hosford, 68, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at Paris Healthcare Center.

His wife, Mary Lee Highfill Hosford, survives. They were married in August 1963.

Born April 16, 1945, in Dover, he was a son of the late Charlie and Tura Jones Hosford.

He worked at Holley carburetor plant until it closed and then worked at First Baptist Church before retiring. After retirement, he continued working part time at the church. His wife said his passion was cleaning cars.

He also leaves two sons: Dale Hosford and Mike (Jan) Hosford, both of Paris; two grandchildren: Kelsey Hosford of Jackson and Heath Hosford of Paris;

One brother: Charles Hosford of Paris; four sisters: Jo Nell (Pat) Priddy of Paris, Ruby Macias of Clarksville, Sue Brown of Hazel Park, Mich., and Patsy (John) Hanna of Dallas, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.

He also was preceded in death by a sister: Wanda Hosford; and three brothers: Harold, Gene and Wayne Hosford.
