Sarah Ray, age 78 of Puryear, TN, died Monday, February 8, 2021, at her residence, in Puryear.

She was a retired administrator and co-owner of Ray Enterprises for several years. Sarah was a member of Puryear Baptist Church. She loved working in the yard and her flower bed, playing with her dog lucky, and enjoyed cooking.

Sarah was born May 29, 1942, in Booneville, MS, to the late Luther Howard Moore and to the late Cora Lea Oakley Duncan.

She married on June 24, 1982, to Aubrey Guy Ray, who survives of Puryear.

Along with her husband, she is survived by one brother, Thomas Oakley Moore of Dothan, AL; one half sister, Barbara Matthews of Vestavia Hills, AL; two step brothers, Larry Oden of Bowling Green, KY, and B.T. Duncan of Olive Branch, MS; two grandchildren, Jessica Ervin and Levi Ervin; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Martin Wayne “Marty” Ervin; one sister, Sue Ellen Moore; and one brother, James Howard Moore.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., at Puryear City Cemetery, with Chad Kennedy officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Heath Lovelace, Bryce Lovelace, Bruce Pilcher, Keith Ray, Chris Beloate, and Matt Stephenson.

Burial will follow the graveside service in Puryear City Cemetery.
