Sue Dean Odom

Sue Dean Odom, age 88 of Christiana, TN, formerly of Henry County, died Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, TN.

Sue retired after working many years as an assistant at Joyland Preschool.  She was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ.  She enjoyed going to church and all the activities surrounding church.  She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, reading, summer canning season, and making food for other people, especially her fried peach pies.  

Born February 10, 1935, in Gleason, TN, she was the daughter of the late Zelmer Williams and the late Dorothy Jones Williams.

Sue was married August 29, 1980, to Fred Odom, who preceded her in death on May 7, 1994.

Survivors include her daughter, Pam (Jim) Havermann of Christiana, TN; a daughter-in-law, Patti Owen of Paris; two sisters, Bobby Chandler of Gleason, TN, and Kathy Lawrence of Gleason, TN; a brother, JT Williams of Dunlap, TN; six grandchildren, Jeremy (Jennifer) Owen, Wesley Owen, Lydia (Randy) Wofford, Molly (Jason) Stokes, Andy Havermann, and Jennie (Sarah) Havermann; and 12 great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, Sue was also preceded in death by her son, Eddie Owen; sisters, Peggy Doster, Alene Dunning, and Blondell Kittredge; brothers, Bill Jack Williams and Bub Williams; a great grandson, Christopher Owen; and a long-time special friend, Johnny Hudgins

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be Monday, August 28, 2023, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue Tuesday, August 29, 2023, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am.  The funeral service will be Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at 11:00 am at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Josh Manning officiating.

Pallbearers for the service will be Jeremy Owen, Wesley Owen, Randy Wofford, Andy Havermann, Kory Barker, and Dakota Parsons.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Rayburn Thomason and James McClure.   

Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery in Cottage Grove, TN.
