Tommy Irby, 81, of Paris, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025. A Navy veteran, world traveler, and lifelong storyteller, Tommy lived a rich and colorful life marked by independence, laughter, and love for his family.
Born on August 9, 1943, to Archie and Oneida Irby, Tommy was raised in in Paris Tennessee. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he settled in California in 1965, where he began his post-military life with curiosity and determination. In the 1970s, he moved to Nashville, TN, where he worked for both 3M and local recording studios, roles that gave him the opportunity to travel the world and immerse himself in music and technology.
In the early 1990s, Tommy relocated to Florida, where he enjoyed the sunshine and a slower pace of life. Eventually, he returned to his roots in the early 2000s, moving back "home" to Paris, TN, with his longtime partner, Sandra Nichols.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Sandra-Ann Irby; his former wives, Karen Irby and Rita Irby; and his partner, Sandra Nichols. He is survived by his two daughters, Kristin Irby Azzolini, and Elainea Irby-Kipper; one son-in-law, Mark Kipper; and seven grandchildren, MaKenna Caples, Liza Clark, Eva, Miles, Trent, Gavin, and Vera Kipper. He also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Carter and Addison Caples and Lily Richko; his brother, Bobby (Nancy) Irby; his sister, Patty Irby Williams; as well as two nephews, Bryan (Tammy) Irby and Brad (Tasha) Irby.
In his younger years, Tommy loved riding his motorcycle, camping, traveling, and—by his own admission—drinking and laughing a little too much. He was a man of sharp wit, strong opinions, and a fiercely independent spirit.
Per his request, Tommy will be cremated, and no formal service will be held. His stories, laughter, and memory will live on in those who knew and loved him.
