Tommy Alexander Madden, Sr., age 83 of Paris, TN, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at his residence.
He was born in Paris, TN, on March 2, 1943, to the late Anderson Alexander Madden, and the late Rosie Cecil Throgmorton Madden.
On June 24, 1967, he married Sue Burnette Madden. Sue survives of Paris, TN.
Tommy graduated from Springville High School in 1961. He later served in the U.S. Army Military Police from December 1964 to December 1966, followed by service in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1966 to 1970. He continued his military service with the Tennessee National Guard from 1971 to 1972.
In 1968, he graduated from McKenzie Vocational School and went on to work for Spinks Clay Company and Southern Clay Company, before retiring from Midland Brake/Setco after 59 years of service.
He was devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and cherished the time spent with his family. Tommy was a longtime member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. He has a passion for history and political discussions. He spent years coaching little league baseball and being an assistant Scout Master. Tommy enjoyed spending time with his dogs and working on the farm with his family.
In addition to his wife, Tommy is survived by three children, Tammy Madden of Paris, TN, Bob (Desiree) Madden of Jackson, TN, and Tommy (Tanya) Madden, Jr. of Paris, TN; four grandchildren, Dillon (Rachael) Madden, Cole Madden, Ty (Grace) Madden, and Ethan Ramsey; and four great-grandchildren, Marshall Madden, Baylor Madden, Benson Madden, and Maelyn Madden.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, John W. Madden, Charles Madden, Joanne Cotton, and Betty Madden.
Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242, is handling the arrangements. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Bethesda United Methodist Church. A funeral service will begin at 4:00 p.m. with Emily Walker and Mike Wimberley officiating.
Burial will follow at Bethesda Cemetery with Dillon Madden, Cole Madden, Ty Madden, Ethan Ramsey, John T. Madden, and Marshall Madden serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests gift cards for landscaping services to help maintain and enhance the trees, flowers, and pond that were so meaningful to Tommy.
