Vanita Kay Paschall

Vanita Kay Paschall, age 85, of Puryear, TN, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025.

Vanita was born in Puryear, TN, on January 22, 1940, to the late Atkins Thompson and the late Myrle Vandyke Thompson.

On July 1, 1960, Vanita married Charles Hassel Paschall, who preceded her in death on December 30, 2005.

She graduated from Puryear High School in 1958. She worked for several years at Emerson Electric and then retired from Dana Corporation. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, roses and cooking for her family. She loved baking her special oatmeal cookies for her friends and the staff at Ridgeway Funeral Home. She was a member of Puryear Baptist Church.

Vanita is survived by three sons, Charles David (Dorothy) Paschall of Rockfield, KY, Gary Don “Peanut” (Lori) Paschall of Puryear, TN, and Hugh Dale “Red” Paschall of Puryear, TN; four grandchildren, Bridgett Hill, Jayne (Louis) Caisse, Jack Paschall and Dustin (Kim Jackson) Paschall; two great-grandchildren Zander Caisse and Harlee Caisse.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Andrew Scott “Andy” Paschall; four brothers Van Thompson, Jerry F. Thompson, Joe D. Thompson and William Eddie Thompson died in infancy.

Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242, is handling the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Ridgeway Funeral Home on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with Chad Kennedy officiating.

Burial will follow at Puryear City Cemetery in Puryear, TN, with Eddie Thompson, Jay Thompson, Dustin Paschall, Jack Paschall, Dale Paschall and Bridgett Hill serving as pallbearers.

Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Charles Vandyke.
