Virginia J. Guinn Cook, age 81 of Henry, TN, died Sunday, January 31, 2021, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris.
She retired after 16 years as an employee of Central Electric Service where she worked as a bookkeeper and a salesperson. She was also the part owner of Paris Gas Appliance for nine years. Virginia was a 1957 graduate of Henry High School. She was a member of Springhill Baptist Church in Paris for over 50 years, where she was an active member of the Senior Baptist Women and a Sunday school and church training teacher. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Martha Chapter for over 50 years.
Virginia was born May 19, 1939, in Evansville, IN, to the late W.O. Guinn and Ruby Parrish Guinn.
She was married May 23, 1958, to James H. “Bud” Cook, who preceded her in death on May 5, 2008.
She is survived by her three children, James Dale Cook of Henry, TN; Rena K. Walker of Midland, MI; and John W. (Dianne) Register, Sr. of Dothan, AL; three grandsons, Dawson C. Walker, Zackery Register, and John W. Register, Jr. one nephew Lee Guinn of Martin, TN.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one grandchild, Taylor James Walker, one brother, James L. Guinn.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 3, 2021, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Craig Odem officiating.
At the family’s request masks must be worn and all social distancing guidelines must be observed during both visitation and the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Alex Bomar, John Foust, Tony Szabo, Dusty Tuders, Joshua Gibson, and David Clayton.
Burial will be in Bevil Cemetery in Paris.
