Wayne Carnell Smith, age 66 of Hollow Rock, TN, formerly of Paris, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN, with his loving wife Cathy Smith and daughter Angela Kellum by his side.
He was born in Union City, TN, on December 12, 1954. He was the son of the late Winfield Joshua “W. J.” Smith and Martha Lou Armstrong Smith, who survives, of Paris. Carnell retired from Dana Corp, where he served as plant manager. He enjoyed RV trips, gardening, vacations to the beach, and Tennessee Vols football and basketball. He loved to hunt, fish, camp, and fellowship with the guys.
Along with his wife Cathy, and mother, Martha, survivors include his daughter, Angela Smith Kellum of Panama City, FL; his son, Justin Joshua Smith of Huntsville, AL; sister, Vivian (Steve) May of Hurricane Mills, TN; eight grandchildren, Dominic and Darius Johnson, Eli, Ethan, Evan, and Easton Kellum, Gabriella “Gabby” and Olivia “Libby” Smith; a stepdaughter, Amanda (Corey) Hankins of Lavinia, TN; four step grandchildren, Hunter, Cy, Ripken and Maris Hankins; a special uncle and aunt, Norton E. (Yvonne) Smith of Plymouth, MI; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242 will be handling the arrangements. In accordance with Carnell’s wishes, after organ donation the body will be cremated with no public services planned at this time.
