Centralia "Cindy" Gallimore

November 21, 1921 — January 5, 2021

Centralia “Cindy” Gallimore, age 99 of Paris, TN, died Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at AHC of Paris.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Community of Christ Church in Paris.  As the matriarch of her family, for 99 years, “Grandma Gallimore” was the keeper of family stories, one of the guardians of her community, a servant of the Lord, and the dose of grandmotherly advice to those who needed it (and to those that didn’t know they needed it).  She was the kind-hearted cafeteria lady at Puryear School who would never let a child (or their family) go hungry.  She enjoyed cooking, teaching her family how to make biscuits, and was the kitchen wizard who managed to serve every single dish at every single meal on time, all together, and piping hot.  She enjoyed playing dress up with her grandchildren, helping them catch fireflies in mason jars, and locating the perfect star to wish upon.  Cindy was a visitor to the sick, the phone call to her friends, the hug that you needed when you thought that you didn’t need one, and the quiet giver to those less fortunate.  She had the kindest, loving, servant's heart.

Cindy was born November 21, 1921, in Cottage Grove, TN, to the late William Luny Crawford and the late Mary Elkins Crawford.

She was married August 30, 1937, to Dorris Milton Gallimore, who preceded her in death on May 8, 1987.

She is survived by her four children, Ann (Ed) McGowan of Nashville, TN, Dale (Carol) Gallimore of Paris, Crawford (Nancy) Gallimore of Murfreesboro, TN, and Jan Hitt of Knoxville, TN; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Anita Atkins and Jessie Brown; and one brother, Denver Crawford.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  A private, family graveside service will be held Friday, January 8, 2021, at 12:00 pm at Foundry Hill Community of Christ Cemetery in Puryear, TN, with Phil Boyd and Dick Cochran officiating.
